"Colour, Light and Creativity" (continued)
It's not just Fergusson's work that is displayed at the Gallery. During his lifetime he dreamt of establishing a double Gallery that showcased his own work alongside that of other independent artists. This wish has been fulfilled in the eclectic selection of contemporary paintings and sculptures by winners of the prestigious J D Fergusson Art Award. This annual award was established in 1995 to support and encourage artists and alternates each year between an exhibition award and a travel bursary.
Coming up in November is an exhibition of new work by this year's winner of the award, Jim Bond, a mechanical sculptor. The show, titled 'Sound Bites & the Untuned Eye' promises to delight all the senses. Works will be available for purchase.

Looking ahead to 2006, works by Fergusson will be joined by paintings by his friend, and fellow Scottish colourist, Samuel John Peploe. The two artists, who hailed from Edinburgh, frequently painted together at the beginning of their careers in France. The works by Peploe will be selected from the collection at Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery who have collaborated with The Fergusson Gallery for this project.
The Gallery is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and admission is free.
