Perth College
Leading the way in training to care
by Mike Buckley-Jones
The Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001 paved the way for a new age in professional quality care. This required every Carer in Scotland to be qualified to a minimum of SVQ Care Level 2 by 2010. Whilst this has established a new benchmark in care provision it has also acted as a stimulus towards premium quality healthcare provision and the development of real career paths for Carers for the first time.
Ultimately, this has real benefits for the most important people, those receiving care in a variety of care environments. As a vulnerable or perhaps elderly person, it is a huge comfort to know your Carer has been able to receive high quality training to help them support you, thanks to a worthwhile piece of legislation.
Perth College UHI is proud of its provision of bespoke training for the care sector. The College has a comprehensively staffed and highly skilled training team who offer a fully flexible local service to meet all needs at a budget tailored to businesses both large and small.
The College has been at the forefront of developing joint working initiatives with local care providers. Training packages can be built in conjunction with customers around weekends, evenings, and nights as well as daytime. Students can access learning from grass roots level and continue on a learning path to degree level and beyond.
Career advice for Carers, along with syllabus information and funding details can be obtained from Perth College UHI or our local out-reach Learning Centres across the Perth and Kinross area.
