The Family Business - Mervat's of Meigle
by Athole Murray Fleming
Artworks, furniture, silks and so much more for your home

Mervat’s in Meigle is always a stopping off point for us when out doing the family thing at the weekend, so I am more than happy to tell you why a trip to Meigle is recommended.
Mervat Walton has wide and varied range of beautifully tasteful items for your home that would lend a distinctive touch to your décor. Influenced by her Egyptian background, here to be seen and touched, is a gorgeous mix of eastern European cultures.
The furniture and fittings vary from week to week and are updated as often as possible and are in traditional and modern styles as well as those with an oriental theme. All pieces are original.
Sumptuous silks, dark woods, amazing ceramics plus so many little ‘knick-knacks’ and these really useful things whose name you can’t remember. They’re all here in Mervat’s of
Meigle.
Mervat’s has recently expanded to incorporate the Village Gallery, which contains distinctive, eclectic art of very good quality and value by successful artists known locally and in some cases nationally. Again we see a range of ceramics and statue work on display plus some abfab jewellery. With Christmas on the horizon too! There are also exhibitions made on a reasonably frequent basis.
Being no techno-phoebe, Mervat can also take orders for items over the Internet and you are invited to use their website. The Gallery has been fully refurbished and a new display system with a full lighting system which shows off all the paintings to their very best.
Artists exhibiting include, Joe McIntyre, Ann Patrick, Jennie Tuffs and Jackie Gardiner to name just a few. The Village Gallery is open to the public every day, except Tuesday, between the hours of week days10.00am -5.00pm, Sundays 12.00am - 5.00pm.
So, the next time you are out for a drive, remember Meigle and Mervat’s.
